InetVis - a 3D Scatter-plot Visualization for Network Traffic
InetVis is a 3-D scatter-plot visualization for network traffic. Its more or less like a media player, but for network traffic. The concept is based on Stephen Laus "Spinning Cube of Potential Doom", and offers several extensions that enhance the original basic concept. At the moment its an academic curiosity designed to review packet capture files. It is well suited to detecting anomalous traffic patterns and discovering network scanning activity. InetVis has been used to review network telescope traffic and has produced several interesting images of scanning patterns.
